"Often as not when the grey sky opens and rains over the emerald patchwork of fields in Ireland, I think again of those bygone days in the African savannah or the Australian outback when the air was still and hot and the clouds hung close and the winds would stop blowing for a while. It is then, if I listen closely I think I can hear again the sounds of a Marachi band playing in a restaurant in Mexico, the far off whispers of Aboriginal ancestors....and if I listen closely enough, I can still hear the sobbing children calling from the sick villages of Africa"
